The (concert) ticketing industry had a worldwide turnover of $10.6 billion in 2009. The industry has grown over the past years and is expected to have a turnover of $11.4 billion in 2010 and $12.1 billion in 2011. The current recession has had an impact in the global growth but emerging markets are compensating the decline in Western markets. The US and Europe are the biggest ticketing markets with a combined turnover of $9 billion in 2009. The growth has slowed down in both US and Europe due to the economic crisis, but upcoming markets in South America, South & Eastern Asia, and Central & Eastern Europe are making such contributions that worldwide growth is upheld. On a country level, India and China are expected to have a huge impact on the continuous growth of concert ticketing markets as their consumer markets are maturing. This paper will provide insight into the challenges that online ticketing agencies are facing when doing e-payment processing locally and worldwide.
