Program Manager

Purpose of the role

The objective of the Product Development team (PD) is to develop and manage the software product portfolio. PD adds value by creating marketable products to help our customers become more successful and by supporting GlobalCollect’s internal business processes.
Professionalism, ambition, speed, flexibility and open communication are characteristics of the department. The team is highly international and the working language is English.

The Program Manager adds value by delivering projects on time, within budget, to specification and to the satisfaction of all stakeholders. Typically a Program Manager will run a number of projects simultaneously varying from customer facing projects of up to 150K euros to a long-term program of work focused on a particular business requirement.

Deliverables / Tasks

• Responsible for the management of projects from inception to acceptance. This includes coordinating several parties such as internal and external software development, sales, marketing, operations, legal affairs, financial institutions and ecommerce merchants. 
• Depending on the case and your background, preparing functional requirements may be part of the role.

Critical Competencies

• Excellent English language communication skills both verbal and written.
• The tenacity to hit timescales in a challenging environment with multiple suppliers.
• Self-starter; a go-getter who pro-actively works to anticipate problems and find solutions
• Ability to follow a professional, structured Project Management Methodology.
• Ability to speak other languages is preferred. Especially Spanish and Portuguese.

Experience

• Education: HBO/Degree level educated, preferably in IT or related discipline
• The right attitude and aptitude is more important than years of experience, but less than three years in a similar role is probably too little.
• Experience in, or a strong affinity with, the Payments Services Industry or Financial Services industry is advantageous.

Other significant role requirements

Willingness to travel internationally on occasion. 

Technical Knowledge

• Trained and experienced in the application of a professional methodology such as PRINCE2, CMMI, PMI.
• Understanding of an Object Oriented approach to software development is highly advantageous.
