GlobalCollect started in 1994 as a division of TNT in order to add value to its distribution services by enabling international publishers to invoice worldwide as well as to accept payments in local currencies. As a result, GlobalCollect managed to establish a unique worldwide financial network, which enabled customers to outsource their entire collection and reconciliation process.
'GlobalCollect BV' was registered as an independent entity in 2000, after our services started to interest other industries beyond TNT's initial client base.
In October of 2005, in combination with private equity providers, Waterland Private Equity Investments and Prime Technology Ventures, GlobalCollect's management purchased GlobalCollect from TNT. This management buy-out created the strategic financial framework for the company to pursue its development as a leading Payment Service Provider.
On July 23, 2007, GlobalCollect announced that General Atlantic LLC, a leading global growth equity firm, had completed its transaction to acquire GlobalCollect from Waterland Private Equity Investments and Prime Technology Ventures. General Atlantic is an active and highly experienced investor who supports GlobalCollect in further developing its strategic growth plans. General Atlantic's global network of contacts and regional presence in the United States, Europe, India and China will be beneficial as GlobalCollect continues to expand.
